Can't reach the knife that you stuck in my back
I expected some mischief but not an attack
Numerous questions arise to the surface
How, why, and what did I do to deserve this?

Days ago I thought of our life together
as a wonderful time filled with sunny weather
Now as I look back all I see is death
cracked ground, dry plants, a complete living hell

When will the pain from this wound subside?
Truth be told if you answer i'll know that you lied
Even when these wounds have healed
The scars remain to show me that this was real

As I finally pull the knife from it's resting place
I feel another enter around the same space
Is there anything that can stop this relentless assault?
The answer seems like a resounding "no halt"

I was nothing but good, I played by the rules
You felt this was useless but continued the ruse
When I let my guard down you figured it was time
To finish me off and and leave with my pride

One of the many things that I just don't understand
is how you could unite with another man
Maybe it's the fact that opposites don't attract
You're one in the same making betrayal your act

When will the pain from this wound subside?
